Requesting Rules
These are the rules set up for when you are requesting an artist, writer, or crafter for a piece of work from them, be it either for you specifically or in general. So please read them before you set up a request.
- Remember, you are requesting not demanding
This means those that you are requesting their services have the right to deny you their services or ask for compensation. If either of this happens, this does not give you an excuse to rant or whine at the lack of your requests being made.
Art trades are perfectly acceptable to be held in the request part of the forums as long as something of equal value is being traded amongst users.
Please note, the Where Worlds Collide forum cannot be held responsible if someone does not complete their part of any trade.
- Sending payment to artists, writers, creaters in advance is done at your own risk
Sending payment in advance should be agreed upon both the requester and requestee and is to be done at your own risk.
Should the work requested not be completed, the Where Worlds Collide forum will not reimburse lost money.
- You may not "Advertise" as a form of payment
By this, we mean posting images of their work in your signature, on your profile or gallery of artwork you received/bought/were gifted and credit their work as a form of payment. Linking to a forum where they offer their services is also not an official means of offering payment.
Feel free to do so as an additional bonus to entering a request, but it
CANNOT be the only thing you are offering as compensation.
- You may NOT request people to heavy reference/trace an image that you do own the copyright of
Even if you are knowingly paying for something to be reproduced, if it is an image you do not own, this is still considered art theft. Using reference pictures is allowed,
Similarly, if you create something that would be considered art theft for a request you will receive an official warning. Just because someone requested that of you does not make it okay.
Should this occur, warnings will be given to both parties; both the requester and the artist.
- Abide by the requester's rules
Generally, requests have their own set of rules and perimeters. So be sure to read the request thoroughly before entering.
For example: a lot of times, requesters post what they like/dislike so try to and keep that in mind while you are working on something for them.
- If you are requesting, you MUST state it clearly somewhere if people are NOT allowed to sell unwanted work as a premade
You must let them know ahead of time so they can consider the risks of making any work and receiving no compensation for it. Otherwise, they are justified in selling whatever they make if you have no intention of buying it.
On the other hand, if the Requester has clearly stated you cannot sell work as premades if they don't like it, you must respect that.
The only time someone may sell something off as a premade, regardless of what the requester says, is if it is based around a generic concept. For example:- a basic character pose. You don't own figure or poses
- pixel art badges/cookies/frames/etc. You don't own pixel art and it's forms
If they are using your screenshots or basing art on you OC, then you "own" the concept and can prohibit them from selling it as a premade. Should this happen, please contact a moderator.
- You may NOT use someone else's screenshot/OC/artwork/etc as part of a reference for a request
If you're looking for something similar, then you must ask for permission to the original owner of the OC/screenshot/artwork/etc before doing so.
